Man gets life imprisonment for killing 8-year-old in Rangpur

A Rangpur court has sentenced a man to life imprisonment for killing an eight-year-old boy in Khamarpara area in 2008. Rangpur Special Judge Naresh Chandra Sarker gave the verdict Wednesday afternoon. The court sentenced Nazmul Hossain to life imprisonment and fined him Tk25,000, in default, he will have to serve three more years in jail. The court also acquitted Shohidul from the charge. On July 17, 2008, eight-year-old Rakib and his friends went to take a bath in a pond, owned by one Abu Taleb of the area. Taleb’s employee Nazmu stopped Rakib while he and his friend were returning home and beat him up mercilessly. Rakib died on the spot. Rakib’s father Aynal filed a case with Rangpur Sadar police station against three people, including Nazmul and Shohidul. Later, police submitted charge sheet against Nazmul and Shohidul in 2008.
