2 DSB officials show-caused for helping Rohingyas get Bangladeshi passports

The show-cause notices were issued by the Noakhali SP's office on Thursday

The two District Special Branch (DSB) officials who submitted false clearance reports assisting three Rohingyas to attain Bangladeshi passports from Noakhali passport office have been served show-cause notices.

The show-cause notices were issued by the Noakhali SP's office on Thursday.

The accused, DSB’s Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Abul Kalam Azad and ASI Nurul Huda have three days to answer the notice.

Confirming the matter to Dhaka Tribune, Noakhali SP Alamgir Hossain said: "ASI Abul Kalam Azad and ASI Nurul Huda had the responsibility to verify the address given by the three Rohingyas in their passport application. 

"The two DSB officials have three days to submit a written response to the notice and after that necessary steps will be taken against them." 

"Noakhali Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Depak Jyoti Khisar is heading the investigation regarding the incident of three Rohingyas collecting Bangladeshi passports using the address of Noakhali’s Senbagh upazila. 

"All those who are involved in this will be identified and necessary action will be taken against them according to the law," he added.

Earlier on September 6, three Rohingyas were held with Bangladeshi passports from Kattoli area of Chittagong.

A team of police from Akbar Shah police station arrested -- Md Yousuf, 24, his younger brother Md Musa, 22 and Md Aziz, 23-- with Bangladeshi passports. 

The Rohingyas were preparing to board a Dhaka bound bus to visit Turkish Embassy for visa purpose.
