DGHS: 1,460 more hospitalized for dengue in 24hrs

A total of 51,476 people have been affected by dengue so far

A total of 1,460 dengue patients have been admitted to different hospitals across Bangladesh in the last 24 hours. Among them, 621 patients were admitted in Dhaka, and 839 in divisions outside Dhaka. 

Dengue, a mosquito-borne virus, spreads among humans through its carrier Aedes mosquito. 

Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), in a press release issued on Saturday, said the number of admitted patients currently undergoing treatment in government and private hospitals combined is 7,856.

A total 40 dengue patients have died across Bangladesh from January 1 till August 15, according to their own collected data. However, the unofficial death toll is reported to be 98, so far. 

A total of 4,043 patients are currently receiving treatment in 41 government and private hospitals in Dhaka, whereas a total of 3,813 people are undergoing treatment outside Dhaka, the release said.

Since January 1 till August 17, a total of 51,476 people have been affected by dengue.

Among those admitted, a total of 43, 589 have been released from their respective hospitals and clinics after treatment.
