A fresh case has been filed against 10 people including factory owner Syed Mokbul Hossain Lechu Mia, his wife and daughter, over the fire at Tampaco Foils Ltd in Gazipur.
Sub-Inspector of Tongi police station Ajoy Chakrabarty lodged the case on Saturday night.
Aminul Islam, officer-in charge (investigation) of Tongi police station, said that the accused are former MP Mokbul Hossain, his wife Parveen, daughter Habiba, son-in-law Shofiuddin, and six officials of the factory.
On September 11, Abdul Quader Patwari, father of a victim Jewel, filed a case against eight people including Mokbul Hossain with Tongi police station.
A fire swept through the food and cigarette packaging factory on September 10, following a huge explosion. The disaster, Bangladesh’s worst since the Rana Plaza collapse, left 34 people dead and more than 40 people injured.
Ten others still missing, says the district administration office.
The district administration, fire service, police, National Human Rights Commission and the Labour Ministry have formed separate committees to look into the incident.
Around 70% of the three-storey factory collapsed due to the fire which broke out at Tampaco Foils Ltd following an explosion.
The explosion triggered a massive fire and led to the partial collapse of the three-storey factory building in the Bscic industrial area in Gazipur, some 20km north of capital Dhaka.
