I know nothing about the incident, says hospital secretary Asadul Haque

The special correspondent of Bangla national daily Prothom-alo, Shishir Morol, has reportedly been assaulted by the doctors of Shikder Medical College and Hospital (Dhanmondi) while collecting information on Tuesday morning.

Shishir said: “A group of doctors numbering three to four, beat me severely and confined me inside a room for three hours when I went to collect information about one Dr Saiful Azam around 8:30 am.

Later, they let me leave the place as I apologised and asked them to spare my life,”

“Despite not being a professor, Dr Safiul Azam, one of the doctors of the hospital, reportedly used the initial before his name,” Shishir said.

Shishir claimed that the doctors of the hospital became agitated when he enquired about the issue and at one stage, they assaulted and confined him.

While contacted, Secretary of the hospital Asadul Haque Asad said: “I know nothing about the incident. However, you can call Abu Sufian of our Dhanmondi branch.”

Dhaka Tribune tried to talk to Abu Sufian several times. However, he could not be reached over phone.
