Eminent Bengali poet Abul Hossain has died in the capital’s Square Hospital at the age of 92 at about 10.30 pm on Sunday.
His funeral will take place on Tuesday and the body will be kept at the hospital morgue till then, his son Selim informed the media.
Abul Hossain was born in August 15, 1922 in Khulna.
He is one of the leading exponents of modernism in Bangladesh poetry.
He expressed in his verse a cynical and anguished mood that reflects his lifelong search for a philosophical and religious position whichcomprehend the individual life in relation to society.
Duswapna Theke Duswapne (1985), Haoa Tomar Kee Dussahos (1982), Ekhono Somoy Ache (1997), Aar Kisher Opekkha (2000) are among his notable literary works.
He was endowed with many awards including the prestigious Ekushey award and Bangla Academy award.
