A fire broke out at a garments factory housed in a nine-storey building in the capital’s Malibagh on Monday night.
The fire broke out on the 1st floor of the factory of Al Muslims Garments at around 8:15pm and soon engulfed the other floor, said witnesses.

Anisur Rahman of the Fire Service and Civil Defence said 6 units of the Firefighters rushed to the spot first and two more units joined with them later.Witnesses said several hundred workers of the factory, fire fighters and locals were jointly trying to put off the fire.
Major Mahbubur Rahman, a director (Operations) of the FSCD, said although the fire came under control at around 10:00pm, the firefighters had been cooling down by watering on the floor.Heavy and thick black smokes engulfed the entire area while vehicular movement in the area remained suspended.
He also said they had to face delay reaching the spot due to heavy traffic jam.Besides hundreds of people thronged the area to witness the fire incident.
Nur Alam Siddiq, assistant commissioner of Khilgaon zone of Motijheel Division of police, said none was hurt in the fire incident.
