Following the incident, additional security measures were reportedly taken to maintain normalcy inside the central bank

Officials at Bangladesh Bank forced the governor’s adviser, Ahsan Ullah, out of the office on Wednesday, following the departure of outgoing Governor Dr Ahsan H. Mansur after a press conference.

The incident occurred around noon. Sources said that after news spread of Governor Dr. Ahsan H. Mansur leaving the office, leaders of the Bangladesh Bank Officers Council present inside expressed anger. At one point, they instructed adviser Ahsan Ullah to leave the room. As tensions escalated, he was seen quickly exiting the building.

Eyewitnesses reported that as Ullah got into his car, one individual attempted to approach him, but other officials present restrained the person. The individual was also seen scolding Ullah with an aggressive gesture.

Former central bank executive director Ahsan Ullah was appointed as an adviser on a one-year contract in January last year, with responsibility for assisting the governor in implementing ongoing banking sector reforms.

Following the incident, additional security measures were reportedly taken to maintain normalcy inside the central bank.
