A mild heat wave is sweeping across 26 districts, including the capital Dhaka, and is likely to persist for the next 24 hours, according to the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD).
The weather office, however, also forecast rain and thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty winds in parts of the country during the same period.
In its weather bulletin issued at 9am on Monday, the BMD said the extension of a western low-pressure area stretches from West Bengal to the North Bay of Bengal.
Under its influence, light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty winds may occur at a few places in Chittagong and Sylhet divisions and at one or two places in Rangpur, Dhaka, Mymensingh, Khulna and Barisal divisions.
Moderately heavy to heavy rainfall is also likely at isolated places in Chittagong and Sylhet divisions.
Elsewhere in the country, the weather is expected to remain mainly dry with partly cloudy skies.
The forecast said day and night temperatures may remain nearly unchanged across the country.
The mild heat wave is currently sweeping over all districts of Rajshahi, Rangpur and Khulna divisions, as well as Dhaka, Tangail, Narsingdi, Mymensingh, Chandpur, Lakshmipur, Brahmanbaria and Patuakhali districts, and may continue.
