An elderly man and his son were killed when a pickup truck hit their motorbike on the Shah Amanat Bridge in Karnaphuli upazila of Chittagong district on Tuesday.
The deceased were identified as Durgapodo Mallik, 75, and his son Bidhan Mallik, a biology teacher at Doulatpur Multipurpose High School of Anwara upazila.
The accident occurred in the morning when the pickup van hit the motorbike carrying them while going to their home village, leaving Durgapodo killed on the spot and his son injured, said Nurul Islam, sub-inspector of Karnaphuli Police Station.
Later, Bidhan was taken to Chittagong Medical College and Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
Police seized the pickup van, but its driver managed to flee the scene.
