FM Momen: Voter turnout slightly low due to extended holidays

Ruling Awami League candidate from Sylhet-1 seat and Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen cast his vote at the Durgakumar Government Primary School polling station in Sylhet city on Sunday.

Talking to reporters, the minister said the attendance of voters may be lower due to continuous holidays. However, as time goes on, the number of voters will increase in the centers, he hoped.

Momen said the BNP’s hartal in protest against the 12th parliamentary election is a farce. “People are voting peacefully. Also, the polling environment is satisfactory.”

The AL candidate’s rivals in the race are Abdul Basit of the Sammilito Sangskritik Jote, Yusuf Ahmed of the National People’s Party, Foyzul Huq of the Islami Oikya Jote and Md Sohel Ahmed Chowdhury of the Bangladesh Congress.
