Former minister and joint general secretary of the banned Awami League Dipu Moni has sought bail from the High Court in seven cases filed with various police stations in the capital.
Following a hearing on Tuesday, a High Court bench comprising Justice Md Khairul Alam and Justice Sheikh Abu Taher fixed Wednesday for delivering its order.
Senior Advocate Md Motahar Hossain Saju represented the petitioner during the hearing.
Dr Dipu Moni, a joint general secretary of the Awami League, held several key cabinet portfolios during the party’s 15-year tenure in power, serving as foreign minister, education minister and social welfare minister.
Following the fall of the Awami League government on August 5, 2024, amid a mass student-led uprising, she was arrested from Dhaka’s Baridhara area on the night of August 19.
She has been accused in more than 38 cases involving charges that include murder, crimes against humanity, corruption, and incitement to violence.
