Eight people suffered burn injuries in a boiler explosion at a steel mill in Shyampur area of the capital on Wednesday.
The injured were identified as Hira, 35; Manik, 45; Rajib Ali, 29; Arshad, 45; Khalilur Rahman, 56; Md Liton, 32; Matiur Rahman, 22; and Yusuf, 40.
The explosion occurred around 10am at the RS Steel Mill when the boiler of the mill exploded, leaving eight people injured.
The injured were taken to the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery, said Dr Shaon Bin Rahman, resident physician at the institute.
Among the injured, Hira sustained 17% injuries, Manik 40%, Rajib Ali 4%, Arshad 11%, Khalilur Rahman 9%, Liton 7%, Matiur Rahman 10%, and Yusuf 5%, he said.
Six injured victims were given first aid while Manik and Hira were kept under observation.
