Update : 19 Dec 2025, 03:43 PM

The Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) has announced a ban on flying all types of drones in and around airport areas.

CAAB spokesperson Kawsar Mahmud confirmed the information on Friday (December 19).

According to CAAB, the ban will remain in effect from Thursday until February 15 next year.

In a press release, CAAB stated that flying unauthorized drones poses a serious threat to aviation safety and security and violates the Drone Registration and Operation Policy, 2020.

The release also said that if flying a drone is necessary for special purposes, prior clearance must be obtained from the relevant district administration, followed by an application to the Civil Aviation Authority. After verification, CAAB will make a final decision on the matter.

CAAB has further urged everyone to refrain from flying drones without prior permission. Otherwise, strict legal action will be taken against those operating unauthorized drones, the notice warned.
