Minister: Some Pohela Boishakh assaulters held

State Minister for Home Affairs Asaduzzman Khan Kamal has said the law enforcers have arrested some criminals, who were involved with the shocking assault on women at Dhaka University on Pohela Boishakh.

While responding to a query of Independent MP Tahjib Alam Siddique, the junior minister on Monday told the National Parliament: “The Pohela Boishakh assaulters have been identified and the law enforcers have already arrested several among them.

Petition seeks Zafrullah Chowdhury's trial

A petition has been filed with the War Crimes Tribunal, seeking trial of Gonoshasthaya Kendra founder Zafrullah Chowdhury for contempt of court over his comments on its judges.

After the tribunal found Zafrullah, a Magsaysay award-winner, guilty of contempt of court and imprisoned him in the dock on June 10, the freedom fighter criticised the ICT judges.
