National budget 2016 passed in JS

The Jatiya Sangsad (JS) has passed the Tk2,95,100 crore national budget for the fiscal year 2015-'16, the second budget of the ruling AL-led government that came to power following the January 5 national election.

The JS also adopted the Appropriation Bill 2015 by voice vote, piloted by Finance Minister AMA Muhith, seeking budgetary allocations of Tk4,15,308 crore for meeting its development and non-development expenditures for various ministries.

BAF pilot Tahmid still missing in Bay

A pilot of a Bangladesh Air Force (BAF) fighter jet is still missing after the aircraft crashed into the Bay of Bengal in Chittagong.

Bangladesh Coast Guard (East Zone) Public Relations Officer Lt Commander Durul Huda, also the commanding officer of CGS Tawfiq told the Dhaka Tribune on Tuesday.

A Dhaka court has again placed Awami League lawmaker Pinu Khan’s son Bakhtiar Alam Rony on a two-day remand in a case filed over killing two people on Dhaka street.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Aminul Hoque passed the order on Tuesday, rejecting a bail petition filed by Rony.

28 dead in attack on Shiites in Yemen claimed by IS

The Islamic State group claimed an attack on two Huthi rebel leaders in Sanaa on Monday night that medics said had killed at least 28 people, including eight women.

The car bomb attack targeted Huthi rebel chief brothers Faycal and Hamid Jayache during a gathering to mourn the death of a family member, a security source said, reports NDTV.
